ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Bertha R. Parbey

Bertha Robinson Parbey is the Director and President of Kekeli Assisted Living Services. Her passion and respect for seniors spans a lifetime. She has over 30 years of professional work experience with a focus on Human Resources and Leadership. She was a part of the executive leadership of a large Virginia non-profit for over 24 years and a member and/or a part of the leadership team of Real Power AME Church (formerly Hunter Memorial AME Church) located in Upper Marlboro, MD for nearly 32 years.  Ms. Parbey has a Master of General Administration from the University of Maryland with a focus on Health Care Administration.  She is an active member of the Mind Valley movement, a 2010 graduate of Leadership Fairfax; a 2013 attendee of the "Breakthrough to Success" with Jack Canfield and an attendee of the "Pastors and Leadership Conference" with T. D. Jakes Ministries. She originates from rural North Carolina and enjoys different cultures, learning, music and especially the uniqueness of  seniors.

 

 

Living Quarters

Kekeli Services offers private and semi-private rooms for seniors. Residents have privacy in their rooms and may have visitors in their rooms or in the common area. Our facilities are clean, well-kept and a non-smoking environment. We have prepared a list of caring "house rules" that everyone will embrace and benefit from in our homes. Most of our space is wheelchair accessible and includes a chair lift for the stairs. All spaces have access to the internet and cable connects are in all bedrooms and the common sitting area. Our residents enjoy the natural light and use of the deck or porches for sun and fresh air.

Cost of Services

Our rates are reasonable and competitive for the quality of services that we offer to seniors. Kekeli Services are licensed to provide Levels 1, 2, and 3 services to seniors. The rates charged are directly related to the needs of the senior as documented by a physician or assessment, desires of the senior, and the living quarters selected or available. Typically the monthly rates start at $2,000 for a shared room.  Our fees include all linens, housekeeping, all meals, in-house activities and laundry services.  For additional information about our costs and services, please contact us.

Payment Methods for Services

Kekeli Services is a participant in the Prince George's County Subsidy Program administered by the Department of Aging and the Medicaid Waiver Program administered by the State of Maryland. Additionally, self pay, Veteran's benefits and long-term insurance payments are acceptable.  Payments to initiate movement are due prior to the move-in date and after a resident has moved into our homes, all payments are due on the 1st of each month.

Our Staff

 

We elect to hire and maintain staff that can embrace our culture of an enriching environment, a family-friendly atmosphere, serene setting, consistency and equality in practices, personal attention as needed, with vibrant music or movies or activities and enjoyment of life and nature. We have seasoned staff and/or fully trained junior staff with lots of new ideas and conversation. Our staff have received the necessary training and updates and supervisory oversight to excel and provide exceptional services.

LOCATIONS

Kekeli's is located in beautiful Fort Washington, MD between Andrews Air Force Base and the National Harbor and not too far from Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital and Fort Washington Hospital.  We are located on quiet street with lots of trees and privacy and charm. The environment is full of natural light and nature. We are approximately 25 minutes from Washington, DC and approximately 35 minutes from Reagan National Airport and approximately 45 minutes from Baltimore-Washington Airport.
